PROFESSOR KEFAH MOKBEL. MB, BS MS FRCS

Consultant Breast Surgeon

Professor Mokbel first qualified in 1990 at St Georges Hospital Medical School. He is a Consultant Breast Surgeon at St. George's Hospital in South London and at The London Breast Institute in The Princess Grace Hospital in West London. He is Professor of Breast Cancer Surgery at The Brunel Institute of Cancer Genetics & Pharmacogenomics, and Reader in Breast Surgery at St. George's University of London. He is also President of the Breast Cancer Hope Charity: Breast Cancer Hope.

Kefah has championed a number of pioneering techniques in breast cancer treatment, not least of all a method known as mammary ductoscopy. This provides clear images of the inside of the milk duct for the first time, showing the exact location of abnormal growths. He also took the technique further and developed a means for simultaneously taking tissue samples.

He says that the reason why he has such a good level of treatment outcome is because of his attitude to the care of his patients, “I have a great passion for my work. I strive for excellence and perfection in the management of breast disease”.
